Low Carbon Fuel Assurance Scheme

Argent Energy was the first producer of biodiesel to be accredited with the LCFAS operated by The Zemo Partnership (formerly Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership). This means that companies like Metroline and Alfred Hymas can benefit by being certified as operators of low carbon fleets, highlighting the immediate carbon savings achieved and ease of transitioning onto Argent Energy’s high blend biodiesels.

Alfred Hymas Ltd

Alfred Hymas Ltd is a Yorkshire based haulage company which operates across the UK. Over the last three years, managing director Stewart Hymas, has been on a journey to decarbonise his business through the introduction of charging points for electric vehicles and transitioning his heavy duty vehicles to operate on high blend biodiesel supplied by Argent Energy.

Stewart’s goal was to demonstrate to his shareholders, stakeholders, local community and clients that by transitioning onto a high blend biodiesel as a drop-in replacement, significant reductions in greenhouse gas can be achieved at little or no extra cost.

In 2020, Alfred Hymas Ltd saved 1106 tonnes of CO2 by using Argent’s High Blend Biodiesels which is the equivalent of taking 534 cars off the road. This Greenhouse Gas reduction improved again in 2021 to 1370 tonnes CO2 or 662 cars off the road, dramatically reducing the overall carbon footprint of the business.

Metroline

Metroline Travel, one of the largest public transport providers in London, has been challenged by Transport for London to reduce greenhouse gases across the full range of services provided to the capital.

In 2015, Metroline teamed up with Argent Energy as its fuel supplier of choice. Argent Energy was able to demonstrate that by using its range of high-quality distilled biodiesels, Metroline could significantly reduce its carbon footprint.

Since 2015, Metroline has been powering its fleet of buses using B20 high blend biodiesel, which has saved approximately 20360 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted into the UK’s atmosphere.

We are continuing to work with Metroline who now use B30 as well, saving even more greenhouse gases and helping to make our planet a safer place.

During 2020, Metroline saved 18661 tonnes of CO2 or the equivalent of 9015 cars off the road by using Argent’s High Blend Biodiesel. By further increasing the blend rate this increased to a Greenhouse Gas saving of 20360 tonnes, or 9835 cars off the road. Metroline continue to strive to reduce their carbon footprint and are aiming for even bigger reductions of CO2 in 2022.
