What effect does biodiesel have on engines?

Biodiesel burns clean and hot. And that means cleaner engines and reduced particulate matter in the exhaust fumes – how much of a reduction depends on how much biodiesel is in the blend.

The solvent properties of the fuel also deliver cleaner tanks and pipes as impurities are swept away. As a result the fuel filters have more work to do and need to be replaced more frequently, particularly if B100 is used.
