There are two important standards that relate to biodiesel production and use in Europe, and subsequently adopted by British Standards: the biodiesel standard EN 14214 2008 and the mineral diesel standard EN 590 2009. They each aim to ensure that products which meet these standards are of the requisite quality. The mineral diesel standard also covers blended biodiesel requiring that the biodiesel which goes into the blend must first meet the biodiesel standard.

We produce biodiesel consistent with EN 14214 2008.

Crucial in ensuring that we achieve this is our investment in distillation technology. This final, purifying, step in our production process is unique in the UK. It ensures that even though our feedstocks are tallow and used cooking oil, our fuel is a homogenous, clear and very clean biodiesel.

We also have a sophisticated laboratory at the heart of our plant. This means that we can test all raw materials that come in, test samples at each stage of our process and test the finished product to ensure that our fuel meets specification. No biodiesel leaves the site without a comprehensive certificate of analysis. 

We can produce up to 50 million litres (45,000 tonnes) of high quality distilled biodiesel a year. That’s 140,000 litres every day.

It means that we have the scale and logistical expertise to satisfy the needs of multinationals. But we’re essentially a small business and every customer matters.
