Argent Energy has been named Renewable Energy Supplier of the Year in the Scottish Farmer Awards 2011 which were announced at the Highland Show in Edinburgh on Thursday 23 June 2011. This is the first time this category, sponsored by Texacloth, has been awarded.
It is the latest award won by Argent who pioneered biodiesel production in the UK. It recognises the carbon reduction benefits of Argent Energy’s fuel which is produced from by-products of other industries - specifically tallow and used cooking oil – which have few alternative uses.
In 2009 Argent Energy was named Most Sustainable Biodiesel Supplier/Producer at the World Biofuels Conference. In 2010 the firm was awarded the accolade of Biodiesel Corporation of the Year by the World Refining Association.
