Andrew Hunter – Chairman
A graduate of the European Business School, Andy worked for Security Pacific Hoare Govett broking European equities and then spent nine years at Hillsdown Holdings plc in many roles culminating as an operations executive on the management board. He co-led a £90m management buy-out in 1997 creating Argent Group Europe Limited and is its Joint Managing Director.
Jim Walker, CBE – Director
Jim Walker joined Argent Energy in 2003 as Vice-Chairman. He became Operations Director in 2005 and Managing Director in 2008. He was Chairman of Quality Meat Scotland from April 2003 until October 2005 following four years as President and one year as Vice - President of NFU Scotland. In 2011 he won the Manufacturing and Processing category of the Ernst & Young UK Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. He continues to farm 3,500 acres in the Nith Valley in South West Scotland which carries a herd of 500 beef cows and over 2,000 sheep.
James Boyd – Director
Jim Boyd joined the Board in April 2008. He joined Argent Energy in February 2008 having worked within Argent Group Europe since early 2007. He was Finance Director of ProStrakan plc in the period following its listing on the main stock exchange in 2005. Previously he spent 14 years in a variety of senior finance positions in business units of Spectris plc most recently as VP Finance of Bruel & Kjaer based in Denmark. He is a Chartered Accountant.
Andy Macfie – Non-Executive Director
Andy Macfie joined the Board in August 2009. He is a partner in Souter Investments LLP, the family investment office of the Souter family. Andy is a Chartered Accountant and moved into private equity with Charterhouse in 1986. He was then a director of Morgan Grenfell for 11 years and Royal Bank Equity Finance for 3 years. In 2004 he left to establish the family investment office of Sir Fraser Morrison, and joined Brian Souter, founder and CEO of Stagecoach Group plc, in December 2006. Andy has been a non executive director of many companies since 1986.
John Cameron, CBE – Non-Executive Director
John Cameron joined the Board in May 2010. A non-executive director of Stagecoach subsidiary South West Trains until 2009, he was Chairman of Scotrail and a member of the British Railways Board from 1990 to 1996. He is president of the Scottish Beef Cattle Association and the National Sheep Association. A former president of NFU Scotland, he is a Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Society and was awarded a CBE for his work in Scottish farming. John has farmed extensively in Scotland and continues to farm in Fife. He is currently Chairman of Governors of his old school Dollar Academy. He was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Technology by Napier University for services to Railway Safety.
